At first I thought you'd taken my advice from some months back to spice up your auto-fiction with homicides, real or imagined, but noooo... all you did is sit through a horror movie!

😅

I will consider that type of “content creation” for the next time someone checks their phone in the cinema.

I really enjoyed Backrooms - my son encouraged me to see it, inspired by its Gen Z director’s success. Very thought-provoking. The Jodie Foster movie sounds intriguing.

Also really enjoyed it - had no idea what to expect! Someone online made an interesting comparison, saying that it’s about A.I. and its nature to eat itself…

The Jodie Foster film is so good! :-)

Love this--do go to Paris! --and I'll be watching A Private Life! Love to you, Ollie, one of the joys in my life, now beleaguered a bit--as I explain (if you'll forgive a link; delete comment if you prefer I not include it; I will understand, my dear friend--and pen pal.) in P.S. I Love you: https://marytabor.substack.com/p/ps-i-love-you

I love when you share your writings and links here, Mary - please share away!

I think you'll love this move: there’s romance, Paris, suspense, and it's got a nice look at Jewish families. (With some typical Jewish humour!)

I’m not a fan of horror but my young adult kids are and have seen ED & Obsession. Still, based on your awesome pitch I think I’d take a read.

I saw the ED trailer some time ago… looked like very extreme horror! I may have to avoid - unless it's the only horror in town this weekend. 😁

And what about writing horror - have you ever considered it or tried?

Words and Wanderlust's avatar

Oh no 😬. Although I have written about incarceration and teenagers.

I love how you jump around in time yet it still reads seamlessly. It's got lovely flaneur vibes that make me feel like I got to hang out with you.

Ollie's avatar

Oh I'm glad, Karla! That was exactly the vibe I was going for as that's one type of piece I enjoy reading. Thank you for letting me know 😊

Interested to hear that you are writing about the East London narrowboat community - sounds intriguing!

Ollie's avatar

Thanks Caroline. That one-year stay in the narrowboat, which I mentioned on your Substack, was research!

Look forward to reading about it in due course!

You had me thinking of Talking Heads, a fav from my well spent youth. I had Road to Nowhere playing in my head, and then suddenly on the radio .. synchronicity perhaps.

Ollie's avatar

I would definitely count that as a synchronicity!
